The World Premiere of Aqua Stellarum in Málaga

On 21 February 2026, the concerto version of Aqua Stellarum received its world premiere in Málaga, performed by pianist Jean-Marie Cottet and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Málaga.

Originally conceived as a piano quintet, Aqua Stellarum explores the relationship between tradition and innovation through a human-centered musical perspective. Inspired by the Minimalism exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce and the architecture of Tadao Ando, the work seeks an alternative path to the highly structured musical languages that emerged in parts of twentieth-century art music, focusing instead on modes of listening rooted in human perception and embodied experience.

The composition is built from an extremely limited musical cell of two notes. From this minimal material, it develops a broad and dynamic sonic landscape, investigating how richness, motion, and expressive intensity can arise from the simplest elements. Reflecting both the irregularity of natural phenomena and the vast scale of the cosmos, Aqua Stellarum creates a transparent and luminous sound space that invites direct sensory engagement.

2026年2月21日、《Aqua Stellarum》のピアノ協奏曲版が、ピアニストのジャン＝マリー・コテとマラガ交響楽団によってマラガで世界初演されました。

もともとピアノ五重奏曲として構想された《Aqua Stellarum》は、人間の知覚や身体感覚に根ざした視点から、伝統と革新の関係を探求する作品です。ブルス・ドゥ・コメルスで開催された「ミニマル」展や安藤忠雄の建築に着想を得ながら、本作は20世紀芸術音楽の一部に見られる高度に構造化された音楽言語とは異なる方向から、聴取体験の可能性を模索しています。

作品は「二音」という極めて限定された素材を出発点として構築されています。その最小限の要素から、多様な運動性と豊かな音響的展開を生み出すことを試みながら、自然現象の不規則性や宇宙の広大なスケールを想起させる音響空間を形成しています。《Aqua Stellarum》は、透明感と光に満ちた響きを通して、人間の感覚に直接働きかけるような聴取体験を目指しています。
