World Premiere of Mayu Hirano’s New Score for Film "TA Page of Madness" (Teinosuke Kinugasa, 1926) — ManiFeste Festival, IRCAM–Centre Pompidou平野真由による映画音楽《狂った一頁》初演 ― マニフェスト音楽祭、IRCAM-ポンピドゥー・センター

On June 4, 2021, as part of the ManiFeste Festival at the IRCAM–Centre Pompidou, the restored 1926 Japanese silent film A Page of Madness by Teinosuke Kinugasa was presented with a new original score composed by Mayu Hirano.

Performed in the presence of the composer, this world premiere was a special commission by IRCAM–Centre Pompidou, with musical realisation by Dionysios Papanicolaou (IRCAM computer music programmer).

Long considered lost and later rediscovered by Kinugasa in 1970, A Page of Madness is a landmark of Japanese avant-garde cinema. Hirano’s new score, blending acoustic and electronic textures, mirrors the phantasmagoric imagery and psychological intensity of this experimental masterpiece.

2021年6月4日、IRCAM–ポンピドゥー・センターで開催されたマニフェスト音楽祭において、1926年の日本映画 『狂った一頁』（監督：衣笠貞之助） が、平野真由による作曲とともに上映されました。

この世界初演は IRCAM–ポンピドゥー・センターの委嘱によるもので、作曲家本人が立ち会い、ディオニュシオス・パパニコラオ（IRCAM音響プログラマー）が参加しました。

『狂った一頁』は長らく失われた作品とされていましたが、1970年に衣笠自身が再発見したもので、日本前衛映画史の金字塔とされています。平野真由による新しい音楽は、アコースティックとエレクトロニクスの響きを融合させ、映画が描き出す幻想的映像と心理的緊張を鮮やかに空間へと浮かび上がらせました。
